Letter from THS President, Steven Niedermeier, MD

It is an honor to serve as President of the Texas Hand Society and to help lead our organization into its next chapter. I am grateful to Dr. William F. Pientka II for his service to THS, and we wish him all the best as he pursues a new professional opportunity in New York.

I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead for our Society. THS was founded to bring together the hand surgery community across Texas—advancing education, strengthening professional relationships, and creating meaningful opportunities to learn from one another. As our Society continues to grow, so does our opportunity to build on that foundation.

In the year ahead, our Board is focused on expanding engagement across the state, creating greater opportunities for surgeons and surgeons-in-training to connect, and continuing to develop high-quality educational experiences that are relevant to the evolving practice of hand surgery.

We are also looking forward to the 2027 THS Annual Meeting in Dallas/Fort Worth in April. Planning is already underway for an outstanding program that brings together exceptional education, collaboration, and the collegiality that makes this Society unique. We will post the new date and location soon.

There is tremendous opportunity ahead for THS, and I am excited about what we can accomplish together. Whether you have been involved with the Society from the beginning or are just getting to know THS, I hope you will be part of what comes next.

Steven Niedermeier, MD
President

The Benefits of Membership

Annual membership in the Texas Hand Society (THS) offers invaluable benefits for hand surgeons and other hand care professionals across the state. By joining, members become part of the growing community in the THS working towards our common goals of helping all people in need of hand care and advancing the interests of those involved in that care. The THS fosters collaboration among hand surgeons, emergency medical provider, advanced practice providers, hand therapists, and other clinicians, enhancing communication and breaking down silos within the healthcare system. Through these connections, members can share best practices, address real-time issues as they occur, and contribute to improving patient care while strengthening the hand care community across Texas.
